Keeping My Balance

At the end of a very hectic week, I think it is important to look back and realize that there was a lot of good that happened this week.

Group that read to 2nd graders
Tuesday we spent the day at the elementary school doing some Ag Literacy activities. Our students read a book given to us by the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. They also did some activities and talked about how the students could get involved in 4-H and FFA when they were old enough. I also got to talk with some of the teachers and was asked, "What do you think second grade students should be learning about agriculture?"

I was grateful to have had that opportunity to do some agvocacy of my own with the teachers and talk about activities that teachers could do with their students to give them a foundational understanding of agriculture.

Wednesday was a new adventure for myself. I had my first job interview and was really able to reflect on how I felt about that process. I realized where I could be better and what I can come up with better answers for, but most importantly I gained some confidence from that experience.

Volleyball Tournament
Thursday was our NOCTI Exam, where I got to understand the preparation of students and set up of the materials from the teacher point of view. I realized that there is so much that we do not think of when we think of Ag Teachers and just what all that entails with finding judges, a vehicle, feedstuff samples, etc.

Thursday night, I was able to attend a memorial student lead volleyball tournament in memory of two students who had passed away earlier this school year. I had a lot of my students on different teams and it was a night of fun, healing and raising money for a memorial for the two students.

Friday we wrapped up our already hectic week with a visit from 4 state officers to our chapter. We had a luncheon with all of the FFA members. It was a relaxing and fun way to wrap up one heck of a week.

2 weeks to go!
