What You See Is What You Get

Since I get to write about whatever I would like for this post, I am going to give a look into one of the biggest passions in my life. I have worked in the meat industry since I was 16. I started out how many people in the industry start, grinding meat and cleaning equipment. As my time at my first job at Beatty's Country Market continued I started receiving more responsibilities. Being able to have the trust from my employers, to make products on my own, allowed my passion for the industry to grow.  When I first started at Beatty's it was a year after they had opened and I was one of the few employees that were not a part of their family. By the time that I left the shop the number of employees had outnumbered the number of family members working there. Being able to watch the mom and pop shop grow into a place that the whole community is now supporting, is something that I was really proud to be a part of.  As my interests continued to grow, I was able to observe the butcher...

New Faces In New Places

It was a really interesting time visiting a school virtually. Luckily, I had been in Wilmington Area once before for a regional competition back when I was in high school! Mrs. McKelvey was very happy to show me around their facilities. The classroom is equipped with lab tables and chairs that are not attached to the desks. This allows for students to gather and move around the room in a typical time without social distancing. The set up of the desks enables them to be moved and rearranged for group activities which is an added bonus.  Bleacher project currently happening  at Wilmington One thing at Wilmington that I would be very happy to get some experience with is the aquaculture tank that will soon be the home to some Koi fish arriving at the end of April. The tank is equipped with a 4'x8' growing bed that would be an amazing tool to have to compare aquaculture growth to growth in a traditional greenhouse.
